In my research, I use human, animal, and machine intelligence to understand the inner workings of AI and to better understand what language is and how it is learned.
I am the PI of Berkeley Speech and Computation lab, where we are building the most realistic models of human language learning. In other words, we're creating artificial baby language learners.
I am a Linguistics Lead at Project CETI, a non-profit dedicated to listening sperm whales.
I connect AI interpretability insights with the industry through InterpretAI.
I serve as the College Principal of Bowles Hall, the oldest residential college in the US and only one at UC Berkeley.
